On last bleg, if you’re feeling generous you can vote for On The Pod in the Performancing Awards here. Voting closes 10 January US time. I’m still stunned that I’d be nominated up against Calacanis. My many thanks to those who have already voted and for those who nominated me.

  1. I swear I didnt stick my hand in the cookie jar as I think I nominated both you and Calacanis.

  2. Duncan, this is possibly an annoying off-topic intrusion about technicals. Pls forgive me!

I’ve listened to your podcast and apart from finding the topic illuminating, was impressed with the sound – very clear, and the interview is obviously very professional in all aspects.

I’m about to start including podcasts in my blogging, but haven’t got a clue about equipment. Would you mind divulging what you’re using? The phone voice came across as if your interviewee was in the room with you. Interested in how you achieved that.

Also, for general podcast-bound interviews, what sort of portable recording equipment would you recommend generally? I can use a laptop with Cool Edit Pro installed as the recording software, and a Shure SM58 plugged into the laptop jack, but I’m wondering if there something far smaller and lighter that would do the job just as well?

    Cheers!
PS: Great blog. I share quite some attitudes in common with you (although unlike you, I have to admit to giving into an inclination to go for the jugular with people whose values I despise). Also enjoy techcrunch in the short time I’ve been checking it out.

  3. PS: Dunno if you’re aware of any problem, but your site often hangs or takes a long, long time to download for me. It may be a software clash with something I have installed, but just in case it’s something at your end that you could remedy, thought I’d alert you.

I did notice a notice about Messenger on the bottom bar when your home page was taking an eternity to download, but can’t recall exactly what the message was. That may be less help than none at all (needless to say, I’m not very advanced technically), but it might give you some clue as to what’s going on.
