Rage Playlist Competition

April 26, 2007

Ive been tagged by Meg.

The meme: “The idea is to compile your top 20 favorite music videos, as you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢d like them played on the television show rage”

The 99 million dollar question is can I actually remember the music videos, or just the songs? probably the later, but I’ll give it a shot. Also not sure if there is an age restriction either, after all, Rage does play some classics on occasion, although I suspect a couple of these won’t be in the Rage Archives 🙂

In no particular order:

Crowded House: Don’t Dream it’s Over
Crowded House: Better Be Home Soon
Crowded House: World Where You Live
Crowded House: Distant Sun
Crowded House: It’s Only Natural
Crowded House: Now We’re Getting Somewhere
Crowded House: Something So Strong
Crowded House: Fall at your feet
Crowded House: Four Seasons in One Day
Dave Brubeck: Take Five
Dave Brubeck: Blue Rondo ala Turk
Billie Holiday – Lady Sings the Blues
Pete Murray – So Beautiful
The Cardigans: Lovefool
Don McLean – American Pie
Cold Chisel – Khe San
The Doors – The End
Bobby Darin – Beyond the Sea
Ella Fitzgerald – It don’t mean a thing
Frank Sinatra – My Way

I tag Yaro, Martin, Darren and Alister.

  1. I’m having trouble with the fact that older songs don’t have videos, mtv didn’t exist yet!

And I never really watched rage (most of my teenage years were not spent in Australia), so don’t know if live concerts were shown as clips for older songs, or as you say above, did they play them at all? (I’m think Bob Dyland, The Doors, Van Morrison, Tracey Chapman)

  2. Sorry Paul, I’ve must have missed it, I’ve got Tinfinger in Reader as well.

    Simone,
on the old stuff, you’d be surprised. I couldn’t find everything (I was looking for a couple of Dean Martin songs) but 60s-70s rock is everywhere on YouTube, not always a video clip but sometimes TV or live in concert recordings, even the occasional picture compilation with the audio playing (the Frank Sinatra one is like that).

  3. Sorrry, should have been clearer:
Yeah, Youtube is great, can find nearly everything.
But I think Rage was/is mostly about clips, not about live performances?

Still, I don’t care,I’m still choosing a few of those older ones for my top 20, and will just include the live performances from youtube! Found one of Van Morrison in 79. And a new Hurrican clip was made when the movie about it came out a few years ago.
And then I had to stop compiling the list, as we are being shaped to dialup speeds, argh, will need to upgrade damn internet connection again!!!
