  • Whois.sc renamed Domaintools.com

My favourite domain tool online: whois.sc, have been renamed to domaintools.com with a redirect. Good on em…I think, but I already miss the old fashioned whois.sc service.

  • iTod…not quite there

The Times reports on the iTod, a iPod like device for toddlers. For me, it’s not quite there. First and foremost, I can’t imagine my 3 year old wearing earphones. He’ll rip them out in a second. After that, what’s the appeal? My son is obsessed with my main computer. He sneaks into my office and taps at the keyboard and the mouse. What we really need is a PC for 3-7 year olds. I’ve got one of those toy laptop things….they’re crap. My son played with it for about 2 minutes, then headed back for my computer. They need a real computer, but locked down, and with games 3-7 year olds can play…with a mouse. Linux would do it. When I find some time I’ve got an old P133 Laptop and I’ll do it on this. But why aren’t computer companies really catering for this market?

  • BloggerCon Australia: I’m excited!

Just read this at Scripting News. Red Barren is in charge of organising a BloggerCon in Australia. For those who were readers of The Blog Herald I’ve been trying to do this for years. I’ve got about 50 ppl in the email list who have shown interest in coming. If you haven’t previously registered interest drop me an email at [email protected]. I haven’t spoken to Ben yet but I’m guessing Sydney or Melbourne. If we can get Dave Winer to come….it’s like….OMG!!! or in this case God will come to Australia!!!!

Any how let me know. I’ll talk to Ben in the mean time. It’s taken far too long…in 2006 it will happen!!!

  • Help! Does anyone know about the TV station NOW?

Part of the package I get in the new house, which is on a new estate, is TV through underground cable. We get the local channels, Perth TV (well depending on the weather) and a couple of free to air satellite channels thrown in for good measure. They are rebroadcasting ABC2 and Bloomberg, and a channel called NOW. Only thing is, I can’t find it on the net. Any one know what NOW is? seems to be out of England. They play some sort of Gaming Show, some sport, and bit of music, but I want to find out more about them.

  • Podcasting, MP3 Players Stealing Radio’s Audience

Gotta love these stats. And it’s true. Aside from playing Club977 on the dedicated PVR box when I want to listen to some 80’s music, I’m listening to podcasts….well I was before the iPod got packed in a box…anyone know what box it’s in 🙂

    Podcasting News:

27% of people 12-24 attribute their reduced use of radio to MP3 use; 22% attributed it to tired radio programming; 3% attributed it to podcast listening.

“The days of top market – top station margins in the 40% range are numbered. Expect those hot stations to fall into the 30% range and the entire industry on average to fall lower,” adds Van Dyke. “Wall Street and corner offices will be readjusting their expectations on performance and having to swallow that pill happily knowing it is the only real operational option left.”

  • I’m back

Greetings and salutations….or something like that. I’m back online after a nearly 2 week hiatus having laid floorboards, decking, and moved into the new castle. Of course still lots of things to go. I’m unpacked only as much as my new, gigantic office currently has in it a desk and a computer….and nothing else. Telstra broke the phone line when they put the ADSL on, so I’m online but cant make landline calls (oh yeh, and this took a week in itself to even get on…) Theres boxes to unpack, beeding to be laid (I’m not very flash at cutting edges on floorboards so it would seem)…but I’m fighting fit, must have lost at least 10kg and the belly has disappeared and it’s actually starting to look like a six pack….nude bloggers calender here I come 🙂

  • The Scoble Bastard Card

    OMG!!!! I can’t stop laughing!

Those Bastards! The meanest web log on the web

    and the best:

  • Catfight….catfight….J-Cal v Denton!

I couldn’t help but call it this way, this quote from Jason Calacanis (unfortunately I think I signed away all the rights to cute pictures of cats doing kungfu when I sold The Blog Herald).

Denton calls out SixApart. I’m so glad I trusted Brian when he insisted that we create Blogsmith as the foundation of Weblogs, Inc. If we had put our faith in those guys we would still be on blog number 10 or 15–like Nick is!

  • Yep, I’m looking at doing a meme site

blogging.wurk.net does some detective work and tell’s me that I should stop using my registered business name to register for other services. I won’t say what it is, but it involves Web 2.0, it’s close to home, and I’ve written about the idea at The Blog Herald before.

  • Google testing mega ads and pixel ads

This has got to have a big WTF on it. According to Adotas, Google is testing 2560 x 1920 ads and 1×1 pixel ads. Pretty much, great big mother you know what ads, and itsy bitsy, teeny weeny pixel ads ala the Million Dollar Homepage. If it’s true, now I’ve seen everything 🙂
