Andrew Keen Is a Twit

August 30, 2007

I’m being polite tonight, Twit is far too nice. What I don’t get is how he figures we should be fed news by “impartial journalists” when there is no such thing as an impartial journalist, in the same way there is no such thing as Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. Typical of the MSM and its supporters: they continue to delude themselves by stating that they remain impartial when they are no different than bloggers or anyone else.

  1. Is Andrew Keen really relevant, or maybe he is pretending to be relevant.

  2. Best part? How he said that the Internet is worse than the Nazis.

Gotta love Andrew Keen. Not just any douchebag. A Royal Douchebag. 🙂

  3. Curious fellow.

He somehow equates the price paid for a work of art (or indeed the price payed to view it) with it’s intrinsic value, whereas this is more likely a factor of the direct experience of the work. No amount of money will ever breathe life into a work of art!

He then goes on to talk about the objectivity of journalists vs. that of bloggers whom he suggests are in the pay of corporations or foreign governments. This convieniently ignores the oft made distinction between journalists and columnists in defense of the blatant prejudices frequently displayed by the latter. Most bloggers, by definition, are as objective as columnists. And it’s a bloody good thing too – a blogosphere of 60 million fence sitters would pretty much suck.

The interwebs isn’t killing our culture, but is rather redefining antiquated business models. Keen knows this, afterall he “has driven the development of the site’s [audiocafe.com – defunct] content and business development. His model of integrating commerce, community and content is now acknowledged as the most viable business model for building a successful Internet business model.” (http://www.digitalhollywood.com/NYWednesdayWorkFour.html)

Commerce. Community. Content. Are these not the basic building blocks of the very same web that Keen now attacks?

    Talk about sour grapes.

  4. Pedants: By payed, I mean paid.
