My first serious question of the new year: Why is Australia’s Funniest Home Video show called Australia’s Funniest Home Video Show when nearly all the clips are American?
I mean, their theme song goes “Australia, Australia, this is you…”. If this is us does that mean we are American? Perhaps the show should be called America’s Funniest Home Video Show with a few Australian clips thrown in for good measure.

I personally decided to boycott the show years ago.
The Australian version is a direct copy of the American version. The theme song is identical, except they replaced the word “America” with “Australia”. Try singing it (if you can stomach it) with the “correct” lyrics and you’ll find it works better!
For some reason I always found it disturbing that they would so easily and shamelessly use a lyric about identity (“X, X, this is you”).
